Shafee unveils letter from Pahang palace affirming house arrest directive

The letter dated Jan 4 was addressed to Najib’s eldest son Datuk Mohamad Nizar by the Comptroller of the Royal Household of the Sultan of Pahang Datuk Ahmad Khirrizal Ab Rahman.

PUTRAJAYA: Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah has unveiled a letter from the Pahang Sultanate Council confirming an addendum order allowing Datuk Seri Najib Razak to serve the remainder of his jail term under house arrest.

The letter, dated January 4, was addressed to Najib’s eldest son, Datuk Mohamad Nizar, by the Comptroller of the Royal Household of the Sultan of Pahang, Datuk Ahmad Khirrizal Ab Rahman.

The senior lawyer presented the document during Najib’s application to introduce additional evidence in his appeal at the Court of Appeal today, seeking to reinstate his judicial review against the government regarding the alleged addendum order.

The letter stated:
“I respectfully inform that His Royal Highness Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, in his capacity as the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong, has decreed that Datuk Seri Najib Razak serve the remainder of his prison sentence under house detention via an addendum order dated January 29, 2024.

In this regard, through this letter, I, on behalf of His Royal Highness Sultan of Pahang as the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong, hereby affirm that the said addendum decree of His Majesty is valid and authentic.”
