Muslims must return to Al-Quran as primary guide

Raja of Perlis Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail delivers his royal address during the closing ceremony of the Perlis International Sunnah Convention (PISC) 2025 held at Dewan 2020 in Kangar

KANGAR: The Raja of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail, has called on Muslims to return to the Al-Quran as their primary guide in navigating life’s challenges and questions.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the Perlis International Sunnah Convention (PISC) 2025 at Dewan 2020 yesterday, His Royal Highness described the Al-Quran as the ultimate solution to resolving differences within the Muslim community.

“Every Muslim has a duty to understand its teachings and incorporate them into daily life, making the Quran a true compass for living. It is a holy book of miracles, meant to be appreciated by all, regardless of their knowledge of Arabic,” he said. “The Quran’s beauty and guidance must be studied, internalized, and reflected in our actions and practices.”

The convention, themed “Al-Quran: The Divine Guidance,” began on January 24 and concludes today. It was attended by Perlis Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli, as well as speakers and participants from countries including Uzbekistan, Singapore, Indonesia, the United Kingdom, Pakistan, and India.

Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin also reaffirmed Perlis’ commitment to prioritizing knowledge and factual authenticity, particularly in religious matters, to preserve the true understanding of Islam.

“The state emphasizes the importance of authenticity, rooted in the Quran and Sunnah, to ensure a balanced approach to both worldly and spiritual life,” he said.

His Royal Highness further highlighted Perlis’ achievements in organizing large-scale knowledge-focused events, such as the Sunnah Village and Sunnah Convention, to deepen Islamic understanding.
