Man killed mother to ‘send’ her to ‘heaven,’ says source

The suspect’s home has been cordoned off by police

KUALA LUMPUR: A man in his 50s has been arrested for allegedly punching his elderly mother to death and storing her body in a freezer, reportedly due to a dispute over religious beliefs. According to a source, the suspect is believed to have killed his mother because he wanted her to “enter heaven.”

The suspect recently confessed to the police that he had murdered his mother in 2021. Following the confession, police conducted a search of his residence in Taman OUG, where they discovered the victim’s body wrapped in a towel and plastic sheets in a freezer.

It is understood that the suspect came forward due to dwindling savings and chronic health issues. City police chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa confirmed the incident, which is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

A neighbor mentioned he had not seen the victim since the Movement Control Order during the Covid-19 pandemic. He assumed she had returned to her own home, as she would often visit her son, who lived alone and was unmarried.

Anyone with information about the case is urged to contact the KL police hotline at 03-2115 9999 or visit their nearest police station.
