ALOR STAR: Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor has been challenged to name the alleged individuals or groups responsible for sabotaging investments in the state.
State Umno information chief Datuk Shaiful Hazizy Zainol Abidin expressed skepticism over Sanusi’s claim, suggesting it might be an attempt to deflect attention from the Kedah government’s failure to realize previously announced investments.
“We challenge the Menteri Besar to disclose the mastermind behind this so-called grand plan,” Shaiful said in a statement.
Sanusi made the allegation during a session of the Kedah State Legislative Assembly, citing the withdrawal of Bin Zayed International Group of Companies from the RM40 billion Langkasuka project in Langkawi as an example. However, he did not provide further details to substantiate the claim.
The accusation came amid a heated exchange with Teh Swee Leong (PH-Kota Darulaman), who questioned the withdrawal of several investors from previously announced projects.
Shaiful warned that such political tactics could harm the state and its residents, urging Sanusi to be transparent about his claims.
In a related development, Teh also called on Sanusi during the Assembly session to reveal the identity of those allegedly sabotaging the state’s investments.
“I challenge the Menteri Besar to disclose who is behind this alleged grand design to disrupt Kedah’s investment opportunities,” Teh said.
The issue has sparked concerns about the implications of the claims for Kedah’s development and investor confidence.
