Selangor Red Giants Dominate MPL MY Season 14 Finals, Make History with Back-to-Back Titles

The Selangor Red Giants celebrate their victory as champions of MPL MY Season 14.

Selangor Red Giants have continued their unstoppable streak by claiming the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League Malaysia Season 14 (MPL MY Season 14) title. They defeated Team Vamos 4-1 in a highly anticipated grand final, securing the majority of the US$100,000 prize pool. Both teams will now represent Malaysia at the M6 World Championship, set to be hosted on home soil.

Selangor Red Giants dominated the regular season, losing only one series. However, a playoff stumble against Todak sent them to the lower bracket where they rebounded by defeating Todak in a rematch, advancing to the grand final. They opened the finals series with a commanding win, though Team Vamos evened the score in the second game.

However, the Red Giants swiftly regained momentum, winning games three and four thanks to standout performances from jungler Muhammad Haqqullah “Sekys” Ahmad Shahrul Zaman and roamer Muhammad “Yums” Suhairi. Their exceptional gameplay tipped the scales in Selangor Red Giants’ favor. In game five, Team Vamos attempted to counter Sekys’ favored Alpha pick with a team-fight-focused lineup of Hylos, Cecilion and Suyou alongside the Mathilda-Ixia combo.

In response, Selangor Red Giants strategically banned Suyou and Cecilion in the next draft, pushing Team Vamos to rely on Hylos and Harith. Selangor Red Giants then selected Wanwan and Nolan known for their late-game power, using these heroes to dismantle Team Vamos’ defenses. The game turned when Selangor Red Giants claimed the Lord uncontested at the 16-minute mark, pushing Team Vamos into a defensive position.

Rather than engaging in a final team fight, SRG focused their resources on a direct attack on the base, clinching victory with precision and teamwork. This win makes them the first team to achieve back-to-back championships in MPL MY history.
